Some time ago I made a presentation about new uses of wireless Internet access. In particular, I find fascinating the increasing number of users that are forgetting broadband services and starting to use their neighbor WiFi. This effect has resulted in new communities where users share an Internet access point and only pay for a fraction of their previous bills.
There is a new startup in Spain that has developed this idea. Fon is another wireless hotspot provider, but with a difference: wireless routers are provided by community users, either by downloading some software or by buying a subsidized router by $5. These users can get free internet access through any of the other Fon social routers in the world, or they can get a 50% of the money paid by non-Fon users.
