2. Duties

.

I worked for Zattoo for two years. After six months in Michigan, I came back to Spain and continued in the company as a remote worker (with some sporadic trips to the US). Most of my work was done in the core network group, doing some kind of R&D + programming stuff. My primary objective was to improve everything that had something to do with networking…

.

My day to day work involved things like protocols design and implementation, mostly in C and Python. I had to struggle with sockets and all the typical OS performance problems, but also with TCP/IP/RTP, congestion control, codecs and their integration with the transmission system, multicast traffic, Forward Error Correction and how to mix it with P2P, SNMP and quality monitoring. I used tools like Eclipse, subversion, SCons, Jira, Zenoss, etc., and I spent a big deal of my time with communication tools like IRC, Skype and those awful polycom phones.
